In 3D modeling the meaning of A Diorama if a scene which is of object(s) on a large scale weather in detail or amount.

The meaning of the word diorama is the 19th century meaning of a scale model weather it be full size or miniature which will be enclosed in glass for a museum.

There are thousands of dioramas some models and many types of dioramas such as…

  • Full-size dioramas.
  • Museum dioramas (like animals, habitats, people, objects
  • levels (in game levels)
  • generated diorama
  • Disney rides and roller coasters
  • concept art (for games movies or for new products)
  • 3D modeling (creating new products like housing)
  • interior dioramas

mood boards

I quite like these dioramas, they use their space effectively leaving bare spaces for a reason and the size is based on the main structure in the scene, the scene also is quite detailed, the backgrounds are very detailed to give the viewer a good setting for their main stricture, they also use that main structure in a very stunning way which is good for capturing the look if your model.

I believe I can take some influence from these dioramas as they use the available space which I can use to ensure that my diorama will not be to crowded or be too empty.

I do very much like these models, they are often built this way as to test with other people, they’re used for objects such as attire or weapons that an entity would use, a weapon for example to make sure its use able to the user and to make adjustment to make the weapon better such as a better stock or sight being slightly closer. For attire its quite often to make sure its wearable and what improvements can be made upon it so it fits what the maker wants it to do, this can be down with changing sizes on areas of the body like hips or shoulders to make the clothing more comfortable.

I believe I should take influence with these board as in how everything is perfectly to scale with each object how it all seem like one object come into one, from this I think for creating my diorama project I should keep everything to scene using the same “character.fbx” file that was used last year in my unit 8.

These models are small models but is scaled so each part, each objects is the same size making the model look perfectly proportionate. these small scaled models are scaled with each other making them small in size but extraordinarily detailed especially in texture. the textures are superbly done however to make this the modeling could be more detail but would make such a small difference that its not worth it.

My inspiration from this is that for my diorama project I can make my objects look much more realistic without having to create more and more polys. This does mean I would have to improve my understand of texturing especially in applications such as substance painter which would be good as if I do this for this diorama project it will push me towards understand and practicing more before I actually texture my diorama.

Here is the dioramas in concept art, this is a dioramas scene made by a 2D artist that I found on art station, here we can see the shading that character has used to create this however we can see that the artist has kept the scene confined within its limits so it only shows one small part of the world.

Here is a level design diorama, this is a map that someone has made to show how the level is gonna be layed out, and this scene is however restricted as it was the edge of the world, which shows the areas in this scene and how it layed out with accessibility or areas and hidden routs to get to places.

Here is a diorama in 3D modeling this could be to help set up a scene organizing the layout of the scene, here we can see that the scene has been confined by the edges of the scene making it seem as if its enclose yet leaving certain areas as if they were pathways
