Research – Audience

targets

Targeted age range: 7-14 years old

Targeted gender: male

targeted social status: middle class

reasoning

I have chosen this age range as I think this would be an appropriate age range for my finished product to be directed towards, I can do this by my texturing as long as I use aesthetically pleasing colors and simple textures to give it a more simplistic yes relatable texture.

Since this is a western themed diorama i’m directing it towards the male population as I believe it would be intriguing towards them.

I have chosen as my targeted audience middle class people as I believe that the people whop would look at my work at this time would be university’s employers and those looking for inspiration on what to model which would be mostly middle class people.

“47% of game developers sell their games on Steam.

(Source: GDC, State of the Game industry 2019)

26% prefer to sell their games to customers directly (via developers’ website for example). The publisher-owned storefronts like Battle.net, however, account for only 18% of sales. By the way, if you didn’t know – out of every dollar you spend on Steam, 30 cents go to Valve’s vault. Yet, publishers who sell their games on Steam say that Valve’s storefront accounts for 75-100 percent of their sales revenue.”

This shows me that gaming is much bigger and easier to get into than I previously thought as steam is a free application and yes while games on there costs the user money but there are many games on steam that are free to play, while a percentage of them users are female more than 2/3 of gamers using steam are indeed male

As we can see there is a difference between the films mostly watched by males and films watched by females. We can see from the male section at the top of the image we can see things such as terminator and marvel superhero films, however while we look down upon the second graph it shows the films females watched such as Cinderella and fifty shades of grey, not very action type films, since my diorama is of the western time period (“wild west”) it does appear to be much more of a masculine theme meaning that I should target my diorama scene towards the male population.

Here we can see the difference in based on each gender, I can use this to help me think about my colours and my textures to make them appeal much more towards my targeted audience. because of this I will indeed be able to

This also shows me that colours are not as stereotypical as I previously thought they were, here we can also see that that the colours are more diverse between each gender and many colours are neutral which is good cause then these colours apply to either gender

Board

Here is my audience board, from my research and experiences I have put this together as a source of information to help me keep myself on track for this diorama. This will allow me to keep my diorama project targeted at my target audience and help get me in the mind of a member of my target audience to envision what they would want to see.
